The New Forest Waterside u3a was one of the earliest u3a's to start after the creation of the Third Age Trust in the UK in 1982. It was started in April 1983 with 12 members and it now has over 175 members. It serves the towns and parishes in the land sandwiched between Southampton Water and the New Forest National Park boundary to the West. There are other u3a's serving the New Forest and adjacent towns.
The Group meets in St. Andrew's Centre in Dibden Purlieu on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month starting at 2:00p.m. The meeting commences with notices and announcements and then we have a speaker followed by refreshments. There is limited parking in front of the church, but a large free carpark at the rear of the church in Oak Road.
Please note - when joining our u3a you will be issued with a membership card on a lanyard. This must always be worn to access meetings at St Andrews Hall.
The members running the Out and and About visits and Lunches recruit members to their events at the meeting in the Rainbow Room. We also have a book table in the Rainbow Room.
The heart of the u3a are the educational groups and we have 14 groups with topics ranging from Photography to History with Scrabble inbetween. There are recreational topics such as Skittles and Table Tennis. Please see the Groups page for information about all our groups.
The Out and About group organises trips to places of interest.
The New Forest Waterside u3a is always keen to set up new groups that members show an interest in. If you would like to start up a group speak to a Committee Member and we will give you all the help you need to do this. It's that easy!
